BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — If you live in Brownsville, odds are your nostrils were hit with a strong odor of smoke this morning.
After several individuals reported the smell, ValleyCentral reached out to local law enforcement to find the culprit of the smoke in the air.
Brownsville police say there have been no fire related calls as of 9:30 a.m. this morning.
However, the Brownsville Fire Department Chief Jarrett Sheldon said the odor is due to a fire at a landfill in Mexico. Sheldon says the wind is blowing the smoke into the city.
