UTRGV opens new Regional Security Operations Center

EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley celebrated the grand opening of its newest Regional Security Operations Center in Edinburg.

The center is a partnership with UTRGV and the Texas Department of Information Resources that aims to provide security services to the Rio Grande Valley.

Security services offered by the center include alerts, guidance, training and protection to help clients prevent and quickly recover from cybersecurity incidents.

"That [the center] will serve any state agency down here, anything from cities and counties to school districts or any other state funded entity," said Seth Pheasant, Deputy Chief Information Security Officer at UTRGV.

The new center is now open and located at the UTRGV Education Complex at the Edinburg campus located on 1201 W University Dr.
