Two Valley students receive $5k grant from the Texas Cultural Trust

AUSTIN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Texas Cultural Trust organization is recognizing two Rio Grande Valley students.

The Texas Cultural Trust is a nonprofit organization that helps recognize and supports art program across Texas.

‘Inhumane treatment’: 17 dogs found in Brownsville home, 8 rescued

A total of 15 students, including two from the Valley, from grades 8 to 11 will be receiving a scholarship grant to help advance their arts studies.

High school juniors, Madelynn Mircelle Gonzalez, of Brownsville and Adrianna Rodriguez of Harlingen, are receiving a $5,000 grant for two years to pursue their arts education.

Gonzalez is studying musical theater and Rodriguez is studying theatre.

The grant was donated by philanthropists Sarah and Dr. Ernest Butler. They donated $2.5 million to the Texas Young Masters Program, Texas Cultural Trust and the Texas Commission on the Arts.
