Local bar to host 'End Overdose Night' event to spread awareness

McALLEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A local bar is taking an initiative to help prevent overdoses from occurring here in the Rio Grande Valley.

The Flying Walrus and the Rio Grande Valley Harm Reduction are hosting the "End Overdose Night" to help raise awareness and resources for the Valley.

The event will take place at 9 p.m. at the Flying Walrus with a $7 cover. All donations will go to the Rio Grande Valley Harm Reduction program.

"This event is to spread awareness and hopefully aid with the problem of overdosing here in the RGV," said Garneia Santavela, event host.

The event will include local headliners and no-cost naloxone training and harm reduction supplies.
