Traffic backed for miles, agencies work to clear accident in Pharr

PHARR, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Multiple agencies are assisting in clearing the scene of a three-vehicle accident that backed up traffic for miles.

The crash happened on the eastbound lanes of Expressway 83 near the McAllen to Pharr exit lane.

According to Pharr police, the center median dividing the exit lane and the expressway lane was heavily damaged in the crash. The Texas Department of Transportation reported the McAllen to Edinburg connector is closed due to the crash.

Dragados USA, one of the construction companies leading the Pharr Interchange Project, was at the scene along with the TxDOT.

All agencies are working to clear the scene.

Traffic delays are expected.

No major injuries have been reported.
