EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) -- Two Edinburg neighbors are in critical condition following a bee attack that happened Saturday.

Officials say the two separate attacks happened in the same neighborhood on the 2600 block of North Sugar Road.

According to a spokesperson for the City of Edinburg, the first call was received Saturday morning.

A woman told authorities her father was cutting the grass when he was attacked by the bees. He was found unresponsive.

EMS transported the man to an area hospital where he is listed in critical condition with an obstructed airway, according to the city.

Rescue crews were unable to locate the bees at that time.

A second call was received Saturday afternoon from a nearby home where a woman was reportedly also attacked by bees.

That victim was transported to the hospital and is also in critical condition.

Fire crews found the bees on the second property, where a hive was hidden inside a junked vehicle.

The city says the hive has been safely removed.
