State Representative hosts luncheon for veterans

BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — State Representative Erin Gamez held an appreciation luncheon for veterans on Tuesday.

The General Land Office awarded the region with a grant of over $4.3 million to invest in Veterans Affairs and organizations.

Tropical Texas Behavioral Health received over $300,000 to assist in financial assistance, adding over $500,000 for mental health services.

"More than anything we hear about things that everyone's concerned about, the price of eggs and bread," said District 39 Rep. Erin Gamez. "With these men and women, we hear about their aches and pains. We hear about what's ailing them. The burden that they continue to carry after their service."

Veterans in attendance were able to share about their sacrifices and what makes them proud to be a veteran.
