Brownsville police has identified the victim as 40-year-old Christopher Jonathan Higgonbotham.
“On behalf of the Brownsville Police Department, we offer our most sincere condolences to his family and friends,” the department wrote on Facebook.

The Brownsville Police Department is urging the public to take an alternative route following a major crash on Wednesday that left one person dead.
According to a Facebook post, police said the crash occurred at 12:26 p.m. in the 2900 block of Central Boulevard.
“We are actively working the scene of a major traffic collision involving an SUV and a motorcycle,” the post stated. “The operator of the motorcycle has been pronounced deceased.”
As a result, Central Boulevard is closed off from Ruben M. Torres Boulevard to Media Luna Drive, with police adding for motorists to seek alternative routes.
