RioPlex region is home to almost 2.9 million people

EDINBURG, Texas – The Prosperity Task Force has released a flyer showing the profile of the RioPlex region. 

According to the flyer, the region, which includes the Rio Grande Valley and Northern Tamaulipas, has a population of nearly 2.9 million people. Its strategic industry sectors include automotive, electronics, aerospace, and medical, the flyer states.

The Hidalgo County Prosperity Task Force was set up by Hidalgo County Judge Richard Cortez to fight poverty. It has now been expanded to cover the entire Valley under the name Prosperity Task Force.

Mario Reyna, one of the leaders of the Prosperity Task Force, said the CEO Group is doing a great job promoting the RioPlex region. He said the region is now being promoted on a billboard at the Pharr International Bridge.

“The CEO Group is doing a stellar job branding our region for the world to see,” Reyna said, in an email to Prosperity Task Force members and supporters. “I thank Joaquin Spamer and the CEO Group for supporting this effort.”

Joaquin Spamer, president of CIL, is a co-founder of the CEO Group. 

Reyna said Spamer is set to schedule a meeting in October to discuss the the themes and messages being developed to promote in the RioPlex region.

Reyna also thanked Adam Gonzalez, CEO of the Council for South Texas Economic Progress, Ron Garza, associate vice president for Workforce and Economic Development at UT-Rio Grande Valley, and Daniel Silva, president of the Rio Grande Valley Partnership for their support.
