RGV athlete chosen to compete in 2025 Special Olympics in Italy

PHARR, Texas (ValleyCentral) — My Morning Star Adult Day Care announced one of its athletes will be competing in the 2025 Special Olympics in Turin, Italy.

Elizabeth Salinas will be representing My Morning Star Adult Day Care, My Morning Star Super Stars, Edcouch Elsa Independent School District, City of Pharr, The Rio Grande Valley, Texas and the USA in Italy.

Salinas is excited about the opportunity and wants to make the Valley proud.

"I joined the Special Olympics maybe 3 or 4 years ago and I never thought I would make it so big," said Salinas. "I guess dreams do come true."

This is the first for the RGV in the sport of Traditional Floorball.

Salinas thanks her coaches and her team for pushing her to keep going.

If it wasn't for her I wouldn't have this opportunity. If it wasn't for my team that they pushed me and they keep me on my toes. Thanks to them. I didn't get here by myself."

My Morning Star Adult Day Care plans to fundraise to help get Salinas to Italy.
