PD: Man steals Brownsville ambulance, attempts to cross into Mexico

BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Brownsville police are investigating an incident where a man attempted to drive a Brownsville ambulance to Mexico.

At 7:05 a.m. on Sunday, the Brownsville Police Department and Brownsville Fire Department responded to the 2000 block of International Boulevard.

According to a social media post from Brownsville PD, a man was complaining of abdominal pain and requested to be taken to the hospital.

The man later jumped into the driver's seat of the ambulance and drove away from the scene. Authorities say, the suspect attempted to drive the ambulance toward the International Border but crashed into barriers before crossing into Mexico.

No injuries were reported from the incident. This is an ongoing investigation.
