PHARR, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Over 3,000 pounds of methamphetamine were seized in Pharr, the United States Customs and Border Protection announced.
On Aug. 1, CBP officers came across a tractor-trailer that was crossing the Pharr International Bridge from Mexico. According to a release from CBP, the tractor was selected for an inspection.
During the physical inspection, officers found 1,488 packages of alleged methamphetamine.
According to the release, the packages weighed a total of 3,429 pounds and had a street value of over $48 million.
CBP investigators seized the narcotics and vehicle. Homeland Security Investigation Special Agents began a criminal investigation into this case.
