HCSO to distribute 2,000 fully loaded backpacks

MERCEDES, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office and Wyatt Ranches invite the public to its annual Back to School Backpack Giveaway.

The sheriff's office news release said 2,000 backpacks filled with school supplies such as folders, pencils, and paper will be distributed.

All children present who are currently attending elementary, middle, or high school are eligible to receive a backpack.

This event will be held on Wednesday, July 31 beginning at 3 p.m. until supplies run out at the Mercedes Dome Recreation Center, located at 1202 N. Vermont Ave.
