Family, friends gather to remember Nikki Rowe football player

McALLEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A funeral was held this morning for the McAllen teen who died after falling off while attempting to jump into a pool at a house party.

In remembrance of 17-year-old Adan De La Cruz loved ones signed ballons and released them. Dominic Briones was De La Cruz's classmate at Nikki Rowe High School.

He said De La Cruz will always inspire others.

"There’s just something about him, the way he always knew how to light up a room, the way he knew how to talk to you, the way he knew how to act around you," Briones said. "The way he pushed you to be a better person not just for yourself, but for everyone else around you."

Family and Friends also held a celebration of life after the funeral service.
