Deputies: Man punches inmate over toilet paper dispute

OLMITO, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A man has been charged with assault after punching an inmate over a toilet paper dispute, deputies say.

At 7 p.m. on Aug. 23, Cameron County deputies were dispatched to Carrizalez Rucker Detention Center regarding an assault between two inmates.

According to a news release from the Cameron County Sheriff's Office, the victim reported that earlier that day he had finished using the toilet paper roll and tossed it to Josue Salvador.

Upon tossing it, the roll tapped Salvador on his back and according to the victim, he began punching him in his mouth and face. The release states, he was left with lacerations on his nose and lip area.

Salvador was removed from his cell and charged with assault causing bodily injury. He remains jailed at the Carrizalez Rucker Detention Center.
