SAN BENITO, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Cameron County Sheriff's deputies arrested a man who has been on the run for four years after he was accused of sexual abuse of a child.

After a child made an outcry about the abuse in 2020, warrants were secured for Armando Alvarado, 55, for charges of aggravated sexual assault of a child, indecency with a child, continuous sexual abuse of a young child and online solicitation of a minor.

At the time, Investigators heard that Alvarado had fled to Mexico.

Deputies made contact with the child’s mother who stated her daughter had made an allegation of sexual assault against Alvarado.

Cameron County Sheriff's Investigators collected enough evidence, at the time, to support the allegations brought against Alvarado by the minor.

Four years after making her outcry, the child’s alleged attacker is now behind bars.

Alvarado was processed and transported to the Cameron County Jail where he is pending arraignment.
