CCSO: Man arrested for possessing 12 lbs of cocaine

BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Cameron County deputies arrested a man May 7 on charges of cocaine possession.

Jose Carlos Perez Flores, 41, was charged with the manufacture/ delivery of a controlled substance, according to a release from the Cameron County Sheriff's Office.

On Tuesday, authorities conducted a traffic stop on a Honda pick-up on 1-69 for a traffic violation. Deputies interviewed Flores, who became suspicious when he gave them inconsistent and deceptive responses to the interview questions, a news release stated.

Deputies asked Flores if there was any contraband in the vehicle and he responded by saying he did not know.

A satchel was located on the passenger side floorboard, which contained five individually wrapped packages containing a white substance, the release stated.

Deputies then field tested and weighed the substance which tested positive for cocaine and weighed over 12 pounds, the release added.

According to the sheriff’s office, Flores admitted to knowingly possessing the packages of cocaine to investigators.

Flores was transported to Carrizales Rucker Detention Center and is pending arraignment.
