Cameron County reopens beach accesses

CAMERON COUNTY, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Cameron County Judge Eddie Treviño Jr. announced the reopening of county beaches.

Effective at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, July 8, the following beaches are now reopened:

• Beach Access No. 3
• Beach Access No. 4
• Beach Access No. 5/ E.K. Atwood Park
• Beach Access No. 6
• Boca Chica Beach

The county beaches were temporarily closed on Sunday, due to undriveable conditions associated with Tropical Storm Beryl.

Other Cameron County beach access areas on South Padre Island such as Isla Blanca Park and Andy Bowie County Park remained open.

Cameron County officials advise visitors to be cautious when going to the beach and be aware of the Flag Advisory System.
