BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Warriors United in Arms dedicated a fully restored Vietnam-era Bell UH-1D Iroquois “Huey” helicopter.
The non-profit group based in Brownsville made the dedication at a Veterans Day ceremony Monday morning at Veterans Park on Central Boulevard.
"Warriors United in Arms found a Vietnam-era helicopter that had been in service. It was shot down twice and was slated to be recycled. They made it their mission to acquire this helicopter, to have it restored, and put on display at Veterans Park in Brownsville and make it a permanent display," said Roy De Los Santos, Brownsville City Commissioner, PCT. 3.
Commissioner De Los Santos added it is important to honor Veterans but also appreciate the freedoms we enjoy.
"It's a common saying, freedom is not free, someone always has to pay the price," he said.
