BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Brownsville Independent School District confirms a weapon was found on a campus on Friday.
The district says it received information regarding a student bringing a weapon to Hanna High School.
According to a BISD statement, school officials, security team and BISD police immediately investigated the incident and resolved the situation immediately.
Video recording of the student carrying the potential weapon to the high school has been circulating on social media. The video shows the student waving a weapon around with a caption stating he was located in "L-Pod."
"At no time were students or staff in immediate danger and no one was harmed," said BISD superintendent Jesus H. Chavez in the statement. "We take any potential threats to campus safety very seriously and acted quickly to ensure the well-being of everyone at our school."
BISD reminds students and staff if they see any suspicious activity occurring on school grounds to notify school staff immediately.
