81 counties added to Hurricane Beryl Disaster Declaration

AUSTIN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Acting Governor Dan Patrick has added 81 Texas Counties to Hurricane Beryl Disaster Declaration, following its updated expected landfall.

On Friday morning, Patrick issued disaster declarations for 39 counties, including Cameron, Hidalgo, Starr, and Willacy, in preparation for this potential storm.

On Saturday, Patrick has now added the following counties to the disaster declaration:

  • Anderson, Angelina and Austin Counties
  • Bastrop, Bell, Bowie, Brazoria, Brazos and Burleson counties
  • Caldwell, Camp, Cass, Chambers, Cherokee, Collin, Colorado, and Comal counties
  • Dallas, Delta counties
  • Ellis county
  • Falls, Fannin, Fayette, Fort Bend, Franklin, and Freestone counties
  • Galveston, Grayson, Gregg, Grimes, and Guadalupe counties
  • Hardin, Harris, Harrison, Hays, Henderson, Hill, Hopkins, Houston, and Hunt counties
  • Jasper and Jefferson counties
  • Kaufman county
  • Lamar, Lee, Leon, Liberty, and Limestone counties
  • Madison, Marion, McLennan, Milam, Montgomery, and Morris counties
  • Nacogdoches, Navarro and Newton counties
  • Orange County
  • Panola and Polk counties
  • Rains, Red River, Robertson, Rockwall and Rusk counties
  • Sabine, San Augustine, San Jacinto, Shelby, and Smith counties
  • Titus, Travis, Trinity and Tyler counties
  • Upshur county
  • Van Zandt county
  • Walker, Waller, Washington, Williamson, and Wood counties

“Based on the current forecast, heavy rain and some localized flooding could occur all the way from the coast through areas near College Station, Tyler, and Texarkana as the storm moves through Texas on its current track," Patrick said. "The track may change over the next 40 hours. Texans need to take heed, watch their local officials, and prepare today and tomorrow before the storm makes landfall early Monday morning."

Tropical Storm Warning Added to Advisories

Our ValleyStormTeam Meteorologists say the forecast track for Beryl issued by the National Hurricane Center continues to shift a little further east of the Rio Grande Valley. Additionally, Beryl is expected to become a category one hurricane on Sunday through Monday morning.

According to a previous ValleyCentral report, local officials stated Willacy County’s disaster declaration went into effect July 1; Cameron County’s disaster declaration went into effect July 3 and Hidalgo County’s went into effect Friday.
