HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Colder conditions are set to slice through the RGV this weekend. There will be a drastic drop in temperatures from Saturday to Sunday in the wake of a cold front.
Step two will be the push of moist air over the cold air making for a cloudy, cold, and wet start to next week. Monday will be a miserable weather day as temperatures struggle in the 40's with developing showers and drizzle.
The north breeze will continue to transport cold air to the Valley on Tuesday. Tuesday morning temperatures will be falling through the upper 30's leaving the RGV with the threat of ice on bridges and overpasses.
Showers and drizzle shut off later Tuesday leaving the final threat to unfold Wednesday morning with a hard freeze. Overnight temperatures should drop to the upper 20's for more than 2 hours and several more hours, at least, in the low 30's qualifies as a hard freeze.
Have your plan together now. The three P's are plants, pets, and pipes so, at the very least, everyone should be thinking about keeping any outdoor pets warm and dry and maintaining a drip on an indoor faucet to help prevent pipes from freezing.
