WESLACO, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Weslaco High School students joined the City of Weslaco to lead a community cleanup event Saturday morning.

The school's Family Career and Community Leaders of America program (FCCLA) led the community event at Gibson Park.

Each month, Weslaco High School students will dedicate one day to unite and clean up.

"We'll just really do our best to take care of it, whether it's picking up branches, painting park benches, cleaning up trash," said Cora Ford, President of FCCLA.

The event gathered park-goers and students from different club organizations at other Weslaco schools.

"We're really grateful for how much the community supports us," Ford said. "Gibson Park has grown in so many different ways. It's really an amazing place for the community."

The City of Weslaco will provide information on their social media for the next community clean-up day.
