Valley Baptist Medical Center honors organ donors, families

HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen on Thursday celebrated organ donors.

Officials held the annual 2023 recognition ceremony for donors who participated in the program last year.

Patricia Vega, a registered nurse with Valley Baptist Medical Center said this event is meaningful because there is a great need for organ donation in the community.

"We've had a lot of success rates with organ donation, working with the families and enticing them to come in and work with us. This reunion is something that is kept alive and going for families that may or may not be still grieving for their loved ones," said Vega.

Officials honored organ donors by having their portraits displayed on their 'Wall of Heroes'.
