City of McAllen welcomes 9 new firefighters

McALLEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The City of McAllen is welcoming nine new firefighters.

A ceremony took place Wednesday morning at the McAllen Performing Arts Center. Friends and family members witnessed the new city firefighters being welcomed into the department.

"I've always had this passion for helping others and putting others before me, so I found this job to be very rewarding," said Roman Garcia, a firefighter graduate.

Sept. 25 will be their first official day on the job.
