MISSION, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The city of Mission on Thursday invited the public to "Squeeze the Day" as they welcomed the community to the upcoming Texas Citrus Fiesta.
The event featured an overview of the fiesta's celebrations taking place this month and a look into Mission's vibrant traditions.
Mayor Norie Gonzalez Garza said she is excited to celebrate the event that she grew up attending with the community she represents.
"This is an event that was the biggest event that we had, and it still is the biggest event in the city of Mission. It's always been an exciting time. We love having our students and our residents participate. It's just a wonderful day in the city of Mission," said the mayor.
The Texas Citrus Fiesta begins Jan. 21 with the product costume style show and will have events all week including the 93rd annual Parade of Oranges on Saturday, Jan. 25 at noon.
Applications are still open for all the events.
This year's theme, "Boots & Blossoms," invites participants to showcase creativity on their float designs.
