BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Last week the State of Texas released the results of audits performed on four counties' election departments during the 2021-22 election cycle, Cameron County being one of the four.

The state applauded the county's in-depth training process for election workers and documented that the county was complying with the state's election code.

Elections Administrator Remi Garza said overall they received a favorable score and said voters should feel confident when they cast their vote in November.

"I think it should give them extra evidence with respect to that we operate fair, open, and transparent elections in Cameron County. I think it should give them a hard level of confidence that when they go cast their ballots, they're being properly recorded and they're being properly reported," Garza said.

The last day to register to vote for the general election in November is Monday, October 7.
