BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Four spider monkeys were smuggled into Brownsville, the Cameron County District Attorney's Office announced.
On Thursday night, multiple law enforcement agencies arrested a suspect, who they say, was attempting to cross wild animals across the border into Brownsville.
The animals, including the four spider monkeys, were rescued. The animals are staying at the Gladys Porter Zoo and will then be transferred to the Bronx Zoo in New York.
This is an ongoing investigation.
