Champion Lakes Golf Course holds opening ceremony for golf qualifier trip

McALLEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Champion Lakes Golf Course, alongside the South Texas Professional Gold Association and the McAllen Parks and Recreation Department, hosted the Drive, Chip and Putt local qualifier.

The event took place on Friday at the golf course, where 116 junior golfers from ages 7 to 15 years old were in attendance.

The participants had three shots at each station and qualifying golfers advance to the Regional portion and a chance at the National Competition at Augusta National Golf Club.

Once at the National Competition they will compete against junior golfers from across America.

The competition will be live-streamed on the City of McAllen YouTube channel.
