San Benito CISD approves new Superintendent

SAN BENITO, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The San Benito Consolidated Independent School District Board of Trustees approved the onboarding of a new superintendent.

Alfredo Perez was extended a two-year contract agreement with SBCISD during a regular board meeting Tuesday.

Perez was named as the lone finalist in the application process in July.

Perez previously served as the Acting Superintendent of Schools for San Benito CISD since September 2023. Prior to his appointment in September, he served as the federal programs director, as a campus principal and as an assistant principal with the district.

The announcement comes after the district placed its previous superintendent, Theresa Servellon on administrative leave in September of 2023.

According to the contract, Perez will receive a salary of $185,000.

His term ends Aug. 13, 2026.
