ROMA, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The City of Roma has made progress in lifting the boil water notice.

The city has asked its residents to boil their water before using and consuming it for two weeks. According to a release from city officials, they have been working diligently with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality to resolve the issues.

Tuberculosis case confirmed at San Benito High School; students and staff to be tested

The TCEQ representatives have conducted a mandatory performance review of the water treatment, to be able to move forward in the corrective action plan.

City officials stated that they have replaced the turbidity meters which is helping address the root cause of the water boil notice.

Additionally, they will collect and send water samples from various locations within the distribution system for testing. If the test results come back negative, city officials say they will be able to lift the boil water notice by Tuesday afternoon or Wednesday.

Residents are asked to continue to follow the boil water notice until it is lifted.
