Rain storms possible this Labor Day Weekend

2 weeks ago 30

HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Holiday Weekend is upon us, and we're calling for both heat and rain.

We have a front to our north and a tropical low in the gulf contributing to our rain chances.

The tropical low in the Gulf of Mexico has been identified as an area of interest by the National Hurricane Center. It is not expected to develop into a named storm, but it will remain offshore and bring flooding potential to the northern Coastal Bend of Texas, and Coastal Louisiana.

Rain chances for the Valley will range between 40% and 60% each day, with the best chances occurring between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m.

We could see up to two more inches of rain in isolated locations through the start of next week.

Despite rain chances, "feels like" temperatures could reach 110° in cities that don't get an afternoon dose of precipitation.

If you intend to take a beach trip, keep an ear out for thunder. Have a plan to get indoors quickly in case of a storm.
