HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A crowd of protesters rallied outside of Harlingen City Hall on Tuesday after mass immigration raids were conducted over the weekend across the nation.

The protest was organized by a resident who is passionate about speaking out for migrants, including her husband.

The unnamed organizer says her husband has been working for seven years to get his citizenship and is still waiting for it to get approved.

"My kids cried. They are scared that he's not going to be here," the protest organizer said.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) conducted targeted operations on Sunday with assistance from other federal agencies.

Approximately 735 migrants in the Rio Grande Valley were deported within two days by U.S. Border Patrol.

"They aren't doing anything criminal. They're trying to provide for their families," the organizer continued.

The Harlingen protest is one of several ongoing migrant support rallies in the nation.
