Rodriguez said she will share key insights into the benefits of government contracting and the importance of the HUB certification. “Getting HUB Certified in Texas is more than just a credential—it’s a gateway to new opportunities, fostering diversity and inclusion in the business community while empowering minority and women-owned businesses to thrive in public sector contracting,” Rodriguez said.

The Brownsville Community Improvement Corporation is supportive of Prairie View’s programs.

“At BCIC, we are committed to empowering local businesses with the tools and resources they need to thrive in competitive markets,” said Cori Peña, president and CEO of BCIC.

“This workshop, in collaboration with Prairie View A&M University Cooperative Extension, is a valuable opportunity for entrepreneurs and business owners to gain insights into government contracting and leverage programs like the State of Texas HUB initiative. By opening doors to public sector opportunities, we aim to strengthen our local economy and support the growth of minority and women-owned businesses in our community.”

Peña said the workshop will specifically address how businesses can leverage the State of Texas Historically Underutilized Business (HUB) program to enhance their competitiveness and access opportunities within the public sector. She said the program aims to increase opportunities for minority and women-owned businesses in state contracting.

“The workshop is designed to be interactive and practical, allowing attendees to ask questions and receive personalized guidance from experienced professionals in the field.
