MONTERREY, Nuevo León – Pharr Economic Development Corporation has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the northeast chapter of the American Chamber Mexico, which is based in Monterrey.

AmCham is a national organization in Mexico that represents over 1,400 companies. These companies represent more than 70 percent of the foreign investment that comes into Mexico, as well as 30 percent of Mexico’s workforce.

Th MOU was signed during North America Week 2024, an event held in Monterrey on Sept. 10 that Pharr EDC leaders participated in. PEDC President & CEO Victor Perez and Economic Business Development Director Lilvette Santos were panelists at the event.

Perez said the new partnership aims to enhance commercial integration between the City of Pharr and Mexico, attract foreign investment, and promote technological development.

“Together, we are committed to fostering strategic alliances with governmental bodies, business organizations, educational entities, and the community to drive economic growth and well-being in the city of Pharr and our region,” Perez said.

·      Strengthen international value chains between companies in the Northeast region of Mexico and the City of Pharr.

For this reason, the first initiative of this agreement will be to use the Pharr Global Business Hub as a primary venue through which businesses can expand, start again and/or relocate, thus establishing the physical presence of a space for AmCham Northeast Chapter in the facilities of the Pharr Global Business Hub, for the use of the members of AmCham Northeast Chapter, as well as the executive council, taking into consideration that Pharr Global Business Hub acts as a work and collaboration station that in turn will serve as the main incubator for the aforementioned businesses that wish to establish themselves in the Rio Grande Valley region of Texas and come from AmCham Northeast Chapter.
