A Mission teen is dead after she was ejected from her vehicle in an early morning crash on New Year’s Day, the Texas Department of Public Safety announced in a press release.
At about 1:22 a.m. on Wednesday, north of 6 Mile Road and FM 492 north of Mission, a Toyota Sequoia attempted to exit a private driveway from the west side of the roadway to cross FM 492 onto Fiesta Drive, according to the release.
As that was happening, a Chevrolet Camaro occupied by the driver and one passenger was traveling at a high rate of speed passing northbound traffic on the southbound lane and crashed into the Sequoia, which was occupied by the driver and three passengers.
“The rear passenger of the Toyota was ejected from the right rear side and partially trapped underneath the Toyota,” the release said.
Ashley Monserrat Pano Fuentes, 14, died at the scene.
Both drivers and remaining passengers were transported to a local hospital.
DPS troopers continue to investigate the fatal crash, the release said.
