Man to be arraigned in San Juan animal cruelty case

SAN JUAN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A suspect who allegedly trespassed onto private property and strangled a dog is scheduled to be arraigned today.

San Juan Police identified a 21-year-old man involved in an animal cruelty case that was circulating on social media.

A San Juan resident reported the animal cruelty incident after home security footage showed a man trespass onto her property and harm her 11-year-old pug, Max.

Yaqui Animal Rescue uploaded the footage to their social media in hopes of locating the suspect and bringing justice to Max and the Gonzalez family.

"Justice is identifying him and holding him accountable with criminal charges for animal cruelty," Yaqui said. "Whatever is applicable by law, that is what this man should face."

The unnamed suspect was taken into custody Thursday night and will be arraigned at the San Juan Municipal Court.

The arraignment is scheduled for 11 a.m.
