Man charged with capital murder in 'drug deal gone wrong'

DONNA, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A Donna resident has been charged with capital murder for fatally shooting a teenage boy during a drug deal gone wrong, according to the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office.

Geoffrey Jay Luna, 28, was charged with capital murder Tuesday for a fatal drug deal shooting.

Authorities identified Geoffrey Jay Luna, 28, as the shooter accused of critically injuring a 16-year-old boy who later died of his injuries.

The teenage boy died from his injuries at a local hospital on Saturday.

An autopsy was conducted Monday which ruled the manner of death as a homicide caused by gunshot wounds.

Luna appeared before a Justice of the Peace on Tuesday and was charged with capital murder without bond.

He is currently booked at the Hidalgo County Jail.

The investigation is ongoing.
