Man allegedly used box cutter during sexual assault, kidnapping

SANTA ROSA, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A man was arrested after allegedly kidnapping and assaulting a woman, authorities say.

On Wednesday, August 14, Cameron County Sheriff Deputies responded to a home in Santa Rosa, after receiving a call about an assault.

Deputies spoke to a woman who say a man, identified as 40-year-old Oscar Lauro Martinez, abducted her by forcing her into her vehicle and driving to an unknown rural location.

The victim reported Martinez assaulted her and caused her visible injury.

Through the course of an investigation, authorities learned that Martinez used a box cutter to cut the victim’s clothing and sexually assault her during the kidnapping.

Sheriff Investigators interviewed witnesses to the kidnapping who corroborated the victim’s account of events.

The victim also underwent a sexual assault nurse examination, which yielded evidence of the sexual assault.

Sheriff Investigators secured arrest warrants for Martinez for the felony offenses of Aggravated Kidnapping, Aggravated Sexual Assault, and Unauthorized Use of Vehicle.

On Thursday, August 29, Cameron County Sheriff Criminal Investigators, Cameron County Special Investigations Unit Investigators, and the US Marshals Service executed the arrest warrants on Martinez in Harlingen.

He was transported him to the Carrizales Rucker Detention Center and is pending arraignment.

He faces charges of aggravated kidnapping TPC 20.04, a 1st degree felony, aggravated sexual assault TPC 22.021, a 1st degree felony and unauthorized use of vehicle TPC 31.07, a state jail felony.
