Man allegedly assaults mother over argument about vehicle

SAN BENITO, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A man was arrested for allegedly assaulting his mom after she did not lend him her vehicle, deputies say.

Leonardo Emiliano Sanchez, 20, was charged with assault family violence, according to a release from the Cameron County Sheriff's Office.

On Wednesday, authorities responded to an assault at a home in San Benito. At the house, a 44-year-old woman reported to deputies that her son, identified as Sanchez, had physically assaulted her.

According to the release, the victim reported that Sanchez got upset after she did not lend him her vehicle, which led to him hitting her.

Deputies say that while they were taking the victim's report, Sanchez walked up from behind the residence and said he had assaulted his mother.

Sanchez was booked into Carrizalez Rucker Detention Center and is pending arraignment.
