MCALLEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Marcus Luttrell will be a keynote speaker at South Texas All Hazards Conference according to a press release.

The conference is set for March 27 and provides first responders with opportunities for networking, resource sharing and continuing education to better serve our communities during catastrophic events.

This year's STAHC will be its 10th annual and is the second largest training conference of its type in Texas. It is offered at no charge to invited participants. The conference is open to local, state and federal personnel who respond to emergencies, including natural disasters or man-made.

Individuals from public health, public safety, public works, incident and emergency management, law enforcement and educational institutions are expected to attend.

Marcus Luttrell will be in attendance as a keynote speaker. Luttrell is a retired United States Navy SEAL who received the Navy Cross and Purple Heart for his actions in June 2005 against Taliban fighters during Operation Red Wings, in which he was the lone survivor.

Luttrell is the author of "Lone Survivor: The Eyewitness Account of Operation Redwing and the Lost Heroes of SEAL Team 10," which was made into the 2013 film, "Lone Survivor," where Luttrell was played by Mark Wahlberg. The film is considered one of the highest-grossing war movies of all time and brought in $154.8 million at the box office, according to ScreenRant.
