HWWS warn customers of scammers impersonating employees

HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Harlingen Water Works System is warning customers about an impersonation scam.

The scammers are saying they are HWWS employees and visiting customer homes, usually during the weekend.

They are then asking questions about water quality and requesting entry to collect water samples.

HWWS said its employees do not conduct such activities without prior notification or appointment. They are not affiliated with HWWS and should not be granted access.

Customers are urged to contact local law enforcement immediately if such behavior is encountered.
