HSI: Edinburg man caught with 550 videos of child porn

EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — An Edinburg man was arrested after he was caught with 550 videos of child porn on his phone, documents revealed.

Jaime Christian Flores, who was born in 1989, was arrested on a charge of possession of child pornography, federal records show.

On April 3, Homeland Security Investigations in McAllen received a referral from Monterey, California as a result of an investigation they conducted in January.

Their investigation led to Flores, who was "actively engaging and participating in an online group chat," a criminal complaint stated.

This group chat would discuss their attempts to engage with minors on the internet for sexual purposes, and to share usernames of minor victims, the document stated.

On April 18, special agents spoke with Flores at his home in Edinburg, where he gave consent to search his personal cellphone. A preliminary search of the phone revealed 120 images and 550 videos of child pornography, the complaint alleges.

One of the videos showed a child approximately 2 to 3 months old, the document stated.

Flores was taken into custody and made his initial appearance in court on April 19. He has a detention hearing scheduled on Wednesday.
