Hidalgo County detention officer arrested on sexual assault charge

PHARR, Texas (ValleyCentral) — An Hidalgo County Detention Officer was arrested for sexual assault, deputies say.

On Thursday, the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office was notified of the arrest of 19-year-old, detention officer, Sebastian Rodriguez.

Rodriguez was arrested by the Pharr Police Department on charges of sexual assault, according to a news release from the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies say Rodriguez was not on duty when the arrest occurred and terminated his employment with the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office effective immediately.
