HCSO: Two arrested for illegal gambling, other charges

EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Investigators from the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant on Wednesday at a property in Donna.

The sheriff's office news release said the property, located on the 6900 block of Kathy Lane, yielded the arrest of two men, an undisclosed amount of cash, and 27 gambling machines that were later disabled by the sheriff's office.

The two men arrested were identified as Josue Ivan Carbarin, 18, and Luis Gabriel Martinez, 37.

The men were charged and booked into the Hidalgo County Jail. They were charged with evading arrest, keeping a gambling place, possession of gambling device/equipment, gambling promotion, and engaging in organized criminal activity.

Both men appeared before a justice of the peace on Thursday and were formally arraigned on the five charges. They each received a total bond amount of $30,000 cash surety.
