HCISD hosts special board meeting to discuss Superintendent's future in district

HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) —The Harlingen Consolidated Independent School District is hosting a special meeting this week to discuss the future of its superintendent.

The special board meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 3.

Harlingen CISD posted an agenda for Tuesday's board meeting, which includes the following:

• "Consultation with Legal Counsel and consideration regarding employment and possible resignation of Superintendent and appointment of Interim Superintendent."
• "Consideration and possible action regarding employment of Superintendent, including possible acceptance of resignation agreement."

Dr. J.A. Gonzalez served as superintendent for McAllen Independent School District for seven years before being named superintendent for Harlingen CISD.

According to a previous ValleyCentral report, his first day as HCISD's Superintendent was Sept 1, 2023.
