Harlingen elementary schools host Engineers Week

HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Garver Engineering's Harlingen office stopped by the ValleyCentral studios to talk about Engineers Week.

Engineering Week or EWeek is from Feb. 18 through 24.

According to Garver, the U.S. is facing a shortage of engineering graduates, and they say it is essential that career exposure begins early. Which is why local engineering firm Garver is spending EWeek recruiting 4th graders.

In the Harlingen area, and across the country, engineers from Garver will be visiting local elementary schools to share with students why they should consider becoming an engineer and the steps it takes to get there.

Garver engineer Ernie Flores demonstrated building a gumdrop bridge on air, one of several hands-on experiences that Garver engineers will be providing to 4th graders during EWeek.
