Harlingen daycare worker arrested after baby found unresponsive, now in critical condition

HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A daycare worker is facing charges after a child was found unresponsive Thursday afternoon.

At 2:53 p.m. Thursday, police responded to the Little Red School House Child Development Center at 1502 Dixieland Road in reference to an unresponsive 15-month-old girl, a news release from the Harlingen Police Department stated.

When officers arrived, they found a daycare worker holding the child. One of the officers immediately started CPR, until EMS arrived and took over.

The child was transported to a local hospital where she remains in critical condition, police said.

Police added that a 30-year-old woman, who works at the daycare, was arrested and charged with injury to a child, a first-degree felony. She is pending arraignment. Police did not identify the woman.
