Harlingen CISD: Vehicle runs red lights, hits school bus

HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A Harlingen school bus en route to pick up students was hit by a truck Thursday morning.

The accident happened at approximately 7:45 a.m. at the intersection of F Street and Tyler Avenue.

According to the Transportation Department with the Harlingen Consolidated Independent School District, a red pick-up truck disregarded a red light, causing the accident with the school bus.

"He [school bus driver] was on the second run, so he was on the way to pick up some other students," Luciano Rubio with the Harlingen CISD Transporation Department said.

No students were on the bus at the time of the accident and no injuries were reported.

Harlingen CISD did not provide further details on the driver of the red pick-up truck.
