EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A groundbreaking ceremony for phase one of the Mission-McAllen Drain Project was held on Friday.
This project is a drainage enhancement under the 2023 Drainage Bond Program.
The project consists of excavation, embankment and removal of existing down drains and the installation of new ones, as well as re-grading, reconstruction and widening of the drain.
"That's one thing that's always in the back of people's minds during hurricane season," said Ellie Torres, Hidalgo County Commissioner for Precinct 4. "People worry about everything they've worked so hard for in their life and we need to protect that."
